Sun City Palm Desert, a beautiful resort style gated community with more amenities and the most activities of all the active adult communities in the area, has long been recognized as the best active adult community in the valley, as well as the most affordable of all comparable area communities. We’ve even been selected as the only area community to be included in “The 8 Best Places to Retire in America” by the prestigious publication Money. We are also honored to have won the Best of Desert Community’s Choice Awards three years in a row.

Now, Sun City Palm Desert has become the only 55+ active adult community in the Valley to earn the prestigious Medallion Award of Excellence. To receive the Medallion Award, an HOA must show that it follows best practices in over 70 specific areas that cover transparency, fiscal and legal responsibility, representation of all its residents and strong reserve study and funding policies and procedures. The Medallion Award is granted by the Community Associations Institute and assures Sun City’s residents that their Board and staff take the steps necessary to protect their HOA assets, provide a secure and friendly environment and promote community spirit.

Sun City Palm Desert has earned its reputation as the best active adult community in the valley for many reasons. What makes us the best?

• We have the most amenities and activities, with something to interest everyone. Many of our activities are completely unique to SCPD, including our fused glass facility and technology center.
• We have the lowest recurring costs of any active adult community in our class with not only a low HOA fee, but no hidden Mello Roos fees or city taxes. Our special contract with Spectrum provides resident savings on internet and cable and IID electricity rates are significantly lower than Southern California Edison.
• We have sound finances, a large reserve account and extensive insurance to cover the unexpected. SCPD has not charged residents a special assessment to date.
• We are a self-managed community run by an experienced team of employees who report to our volunteer resident Board of Directors. We also have a team of resident District Delegates who work directly with residents to bring suggestions to management and the Board.
